Understand the repair scope
The reservoir, visible hydraulic components and pedal feel are checked first so an active leak or failing master cylinder is not mistaken for old fluid.
Fresh fluid of the specified grade is moved through each brake circuit in the correct sequence while the reservoir is kept from running dry.
Bleed screws are secured, fluid is cleaned from painted surfaces, and the pedal, level and absence of leaks are confirmed. Some ABS systems require a scan-tool bleed routine.
